The heart of our charitable work is our people, and two team members in particular help make this program possible. Jennifer Lajoie, who coordinates our Connecticut involvement, and Lynn Walker, who guides our Massachusetts efforts, play an essential role in bringing our values to life in the community. We are grateful for the care and dedication they bring to the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund. Here is what Jennifer and Lynn shared about their experience leading these initiatives.
“What inspires me most is how willing our Connecticut team is to show up for others. Whether it is supporting a local food pantry, joining a charity walk, or lending a hand to an organization during a challenging time, our people give with sincerity and compassion. It is an honor to help guide this work each year.”
— Jen Lajoie, BICF Coordinator, Connecticut
“Every year, I am reminded of how generous and community-minded this team truly is. Our Massachusetts volunteers consistently step up for families, nonprofits, and causes that need a helping hand. Watching our people lead with heart and seeing the difference it makes is something I am deeply proud of.”
— Lynn Walker, BICF Coordinator, Massachusetts
Our Commitment in Action
Throughout 2025, the Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund supported a wide range of organizations and causes across Massachusetts and Connecticut. Our employees volunteered their time, contributed resources, and partnered with nonprofits working in areas such as food security, healthcare, mental health, education, wildlife conservation, and support for first responders and individuals with disabilities. The list below highlights many of the organizations our team was proud to stand behind this year.
- Our employees have volunteered with nonprofit organizations such as Covenant Soup Kitchen, St. Vincent de Paul of Greater Taunton, Hands of Grace, and Lazarus House Ministries to assist families experiencing food insecurity and financial hardships.
- Bearingstar has participated in Walk ALS New Haven, the American Parkinson’s Disease Association Optimism Walk, sponsored events for Hope Lives and Cancer House of Hope, and donated equipment to local hospitals to support individuals affected by serious illness.
- We have shown our appreciation for first responders, veterans, and K-9 units by volunteering with Save a Suit and donating to organizations such as Blue Line Jars, Open Doors Outdoors, the Hartford Fire Fighters Survivors Fund, and the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association.
- Our team has volunteered at clothing and sports equipment drives for children in need through events at Catie’s Closet and Good Sports.
- We have supported wildlife education and conservation efforts through donations to the Litchfield Hills Audubon Society.
- We have donated to nonprofits such as the Alex Fisher Foundation and Honor Connor to educate families about substance abuse, combat mental illness, and aid individuals experiencing long-term grief.
- We have donated to Jane Doe No More, which empowers survivors of sexual crimes to speak out, advance their healing, and educate others.
- We have donated to organizations like the Probus Club of Greater Hartford and Healing Hearts Adaptive Recreation to support individuals with special needs. One of our Bearingstar team members even rappelled 30 stories down Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower to raise funds for Connecticut’s Special Olympics through the Over the Edge fundraiser for the tenth year in a row.
Thank You to Our Volunteers!
Our charitable work is only possible because of the people behind it. To every Bearingstar employee who volunteered, donated, organized, or showed support in any way, thank you. You are the reason the Charitable Fund continues to grow, and you are the reason our communities feel supported and seen.
As we look to 2026, we remain inspired by the difference our people make each year and grateful for the opportunity to keep showing up together.
